ReadID Me is an NFC passport reader that lets you unlock and verify the security features of your electronic travel documents. Whether you're curious about what data your passport contains or exploring identity verification solutions, this app reads NFC chips embedded in ePassports, national identity cards, and ICAO-compliant travel documents with complete transparency.

The app works by first scanning the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) using optical character recognition to locate and access the embedded chip. Once the NFC connection is established, ReadID Me retrieves your document's biographical and biometric information, displaying everything the chip stores. You'll see personal details, passport validity, security features, and more—giving you full visibility into your own identity document.

Beyond basic data retrieval, the app performs rigorous security validation checks including Active Authentication, Chip Authentication, and Passive Authentication. These checks verify that your document is genuine and hasn't been tampered with, displaying detailed results so you understand exactly what security measures protect your travel credentials. This level of scrutiny mirrors what border control and identity verification systems use worldwide.

Electronic driving licenses are also supported through this app. Currently, digital driving licenses issued in the Netherlands from November 2014 onwards can be read and verified, with potential for expansion to additional countries and document types.
